ECN 213 Principles of Economics (GE) (3)
Introduction to the principles of micro- and macroeconomics. Micro elements include supply and demand, consumer behavior, income distribution, and competitive and monopolistic markets. Macro elements include determinants of aggregate economic activity, the effects of monetary and fiscal policy on national income, and economic policy toward unemployment and inflation.

ECN 315 Intermediate Macroeconomics (3)
Study of macroeconomic theory and policy: an analysis of the forces that determine employment, income, and price. Topics include aggregate supply and demand and income determination, interest rates, fiscal and monetary policy, inflation, exchange rates, and macroeconomic policy. May be taken independently of ECN 310. Prerequisite: ECN 213, 215, or consent of instructor. Prerequisite or concurrent enrollment: MAT 241.

ECN 340 Public Choice (3)
The application of economic theory and the rational choice framework to traditional political science topics. Topics include: collective action and public goods theory, the economic rationale for government, entrepreneurship in politics and bureaucracy, voting rules, and voter ignorance. Prerequisite: ECN210, or consent of instructor.

ECN 360 Game Theory (3)
The use of economic and mathematical models to analyze strategic behavior between individuals and groups. Topics include: simultaneous-move games, sequential games, Nash equilibrium, and strategic decision-making under uncertainty. Prerequisite: MAT 114 or MAT 115, or consent of instructor.

ECN 490 Econometrics (3)
The application of statistical techniques and procedures to economic data. This course introduces econometric theory and emphasizes its application using computer software and real world data. Topics include: randomized trials, linear regression with cross-section and time series data, heteroskedasticity, mis-specification testing, instrumental variables, generalized least squares, and more advanced topics. Prerequisite: MAT 221 or consent of instructor.
